Beginning Photography

The musings of a budding photographer

About

with 9 comments

A record of my endeavour to produce some decent photographs. In October 2009 I took delivery of my first digital SLR camera. Until that time my photography experience was limited to a point and shoot, taking the same snap shots that everybody else takes.

The goal is to chart my progress from complete noob to, hopefully, a decent level amateur photographer. I have no pretentions or aspirations to do this professionally and will endeavour to keep it as a hobby, all beit one that might serve to supplement my income if people are interested in my images.

All images not featuring people are available as prints. Those that do feature people may be available as prints but I won’t make them available without getting consent from the main subject in the image.

I have temporarily relaxed the settings for comments. Previously it was required for a user to have their first post approved before subsequent posts could be made and to provide a name and email address. This was done partly due to the vast volumes of spam I received in the early days of the blog, but these are now actively taken care of by my spam filters.  Depending on results this may have to be switched back on, but for now comments should be free and easy. If a comment doesn’t appear the spam blocking software may have gotten to it, it should hold it for my review though.

  4. I can barely spin a coin, never mind photographing it at the same time.
I also like the bench shots (I have an empty picnic table myself 🙂 )
I think you’re off to a great start!

  6. Good luck with your quest my friend.
Photography can be an engaging and sometimes frustrating activity.
You’ll never look light the same way again. 😉
