Now on Flickr

with 2 comments

I’ve taken the plunge and sorted myself out with a real Flickr account. I’ve been resisting Flickr primarily because I wasn’t overly happy with the interface, but after playing around with a lightroom plugin to export directly to flickr I’m now an avid fan.

The upside is that I’m likely to upload far more images to flickr than I can to the blog, and with a large number of plugins available for intergrating flickr with a wordpress blog I hope to make good use of the extra capacity. No new images in this post I’m afraid, I haven’t played around with the plugins yet, but hopefully some coming soon. For now check out my photostream by clicking the link above or from the sidebar.

Golf at the Players Club

with 5 comments

Here we have a couple of images of friends of mine playing golf at the Players Club near Bristol in a recent Europro tournament. First up is Neil Walker, photographed after hitting a drive on the 5th hole. The difficulty with this shot was Neil’s choice of clothing, metering was a real pain to get right.

Next we have a familiar face from the blog. Paul, hitting an approach shot to the 7th. I’m particularly pleased with this image since I also have the ball in shot.

Feedback on all aspects much appreciated, especially on composition. Both these images have had a minor crop, I simply can’t make my mind up where to place the golfer in the frame. The rule of thirds doesn’t seem to work as I think it should. Very little processing has gone into either image thus far.

Golf in black and white

with 2 comments

Using Paul once again as my model, we have here a couple of shots of him playing golf. The lighting on this particular day was pretty flat so I’ve converted to black and white and I think they work quite well. Composition is tough, the person is easy to get in the right place but with the swing arc extending both fore and after it’s difficult to know exactly where to point the camera. I’ll want a few more goes at this before I’m happy I suspect.

Me and friends

It’s been a while since I appeared on the blog, so here I am. Photo taken by Paul, who appears in the other photos along with his girlfriend Kirsty. I’ve got a bit of a black and white thing going on with portraits, not quite sure why.

Golf and Paul

This is Paul, and we ventured out onto the course at Bovey Castle in the early evening to take a few photos. Here’s a small selection, some serious, some a bit staged. Feedback always welcome.

Bovey Castle

I’m back and posting. 6 weeks away with work has put a bit of a crimp on the photography, but I managed to get out and about with the camera a couple of times. Golf is going to feature a fair bit in the next few posts, so to kick us off here is a shot from the 18th hole at Bovey Castle

I’m particularly pleased with this image, the light was gorgeous
