The musings of a budding photographer

Fields of Gold

Rapeseed is everywhere at this time of the year and I’ve been contemplating photographing it for a few days. Driving home today I decided to stop and have a go, but was a little unsure as for how to proceed. I decided to focus solely on the flowers and avoid any horizon and to be honest many of the scenery shots were disappointing, they eye just doesn’t settle.

Get close in, though, and different things start to happen. Here are a couple I really like

I will almost certainly have another go at rapeseed in the next few days, probably trying for more of a landscape type shot.

  2. I like the first one a lot πŸ™‚ Yes the focus on a key foreground element really works, and it arches up into the rest of the frame.

  4. I always prefer any sort of shot involving flowers without a horizon: if they’re in the ground, it makes the photo feel like it goes on forever and ever. if the shot is from below, it’s like they’re floating mid-air. these are beautiful. πŸ™‚ – crayons
